This season 21 of our ladies took part in the Morton competitions. We had a good start against Stranraer at Hamilton where we secured 4 points and then went down to Dumfries where we again won 4 points. Our last game was against Lockerbie which we hosted at Hamilton and managed 4 points once more. This put us top of our section in the South and secured our place in finals day at Perth on the 10th March.
We were very fortunate that Jamie Mason volunteered to acquire and drive a mini bus to take the team and subs to Perth. It was a 6.15am start in Ayr with pickups at Prestwick, Loans and Kilmarnock on the way.
We played Stirling in the semi-final in the morning and with two wins secured our place for the afternoon. After lunch we played the final against Edinburgh. With two great wins and a very close third game Ayr were once again Morton Winners!!
This is a fantastic achievement from our ladies and I am so proud of them all.
As a foot note – I can’t believe how Mara kept her concentration throughout the day as her daughter was busy delivering a beautiful granddaughter for her!!
Many thanks to Jamie for bringing back the 'Morton Bus' tradition. Those who have experienced it in the past have many fond memories to look back on! I believe the party was exceptional!
After three years as your Morton Secretary with two wins out of three I am retiring this year on a high – so thank you all for your support.
