Two rinks from Curl Ayrshire played in the Jolipestal Trophy at Hamilton on Friday 7 February 2025.
This bonspiel is run annually by Lanark Curling Club, where Charlie Steele started his curling career. He was invited to enter two rinks, the winner being the highest cumulative shots up.
Curl Ayrshire 1 played East Kilbride and Haremyers, winning by six shots. The rink was Alan Mitchell, David Graham, David McIntrye and Allan Chapman
Curl Ayrshire 2 played Strathaven Ladies, winning by three shots. The overall winner was Avondale Heather with a 13 shot total. Interesting to note that if Strathaven Ladies’ skip had not played an unbelievable double tap up to lie with her final stone, CA would also have been 13 up! CA 2 was Charlie Steele, Derek Gilbertson, Douglas Haddow and Ewan Marr.
A great day out, particularly this week since there has been no curling at Greenacres.
