Tuesday 25 March 2025
The final matches in the Dunlop Memorial Salver were played at Greenacres on Tuesday 25th March and afterwards a lunch and prize giving was enjoyed by all. As always it was very close but the winning rink was skipped by Charlie Steele with Fraser Hogg, Colin Naismith and Dorothy Moir. Coming a close second was the rink skipped by Jim Boswell, Elizabeth Shaw, Jack Shanks and Louise MacDonald. Third was Carol van Heddegem, Liz Boswell. Jim Jack and Norma Lambie.
The infamous “Duck” trophy was equally hotly contested but Ed Baines came through in the end. Unfortunately for Ed, and David MacDonald, their rink was disrupted by illness and accidents so we are indebted to the various subs who stepped in to play.
To everyone’s approval the Morton Sportsman’s Trophy was won by Jim Jack .
The trophies were presented by Margaret Morton who along with Willie did so much to make this competition so enjoyable.
The Dunlop Memorial Salver has run for many years with 12 rinks but, for the past two years, we ran it with only 6 rinks. It is played at Greenacres on Tuesdays at 12.30 pm and hopefully next season we can increase this again. Everyone who has played in it would agree that it is competitive and great fun. so if anyone is interested in playing or as a substitute please contact:
