Curl Ayshire Charity held its first Burns Supper at Glenburn Miners Welfare Club last month. The event proved to be a most enjoyable night for those in attendance with both excellent food and entertainment.
Lorrie Headley our old chef from the Ice Rink provided the fare which was enjoyed by all with the addition of some lovely homemade tablet from Jean Morton. The haggis was piped in by Fergus Goldie, borne on high by Lisa Mason and Addressed by Neil Sands with Sheila Scott giving us the Selkirk Grace.
The entertainment was led off by Robbie Dale who provided us with a number of Burns songs throughout the evening before Robbie Henderson a veterinarian from Blairgowrie gave us a thoughtful and insightful Immortal Memory. Next up was Wyllie Woodburn with a most humorous Toast to the Lassies, and he was followed by Jean Hillhouse with a superb Reply on behalf of the Lassies which had the audience in raptures. We then had Duncan Crawford with an excellent rendition of the Burns masterpiece Tam O’ Shanter before the evening ended with the usual Star O’ Rabbie Burns and Auld Lang Syne and possibly a wee dram to see the night out.
A big thank you must go to our sponsors for the evening Sell My Car Ayrshire for their support of the evening.
